I just listed this piece on eBay. It is a 4 1/2" Art Squared Card. I'm mad for theimage of this woman. It's a color copy of the original hand colored antique photo that I own. I struggled with words to add
to this card..."live radiantly", "peace of mind", "the weaker sex", all came to mind. But in the end, I thought, no let this image
speak for itself. I used torn hand made paper for the base of this piece. At the last minute I decided on adding the little circle
to frame her one eye. I have used this detail on previous work. Somehow when that was done I felt the piece was finally
finished. Let's see if I get any reaction with the listing.

and I am with you about letting it stand alone.
Sometimes it is uncomfortable for me when an image has too much written on it - forcing me to see rather than allowing me to see...make sense?
This image is indeed a beauty.
I would use it again if I were you.
I like to see how many different ways I can use one image to evoke seperate feelings or stories from it.
I do like her EYE that way. Clever. It is mysterious and pulls you in .
Love the handwritten piece on the right too - adds romance and texture to this along with that beautiful BLUE handmade paper. It has a fresh feeling to it next to the vintage tones.
